The Feminist Anthropology Research Group AFIT (Antropologia Feminista Ikerketa Taldea) at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is an official group recognised by the Basque Government, which is made up of university teachers with a lot of experience in research projects and contracts, publications and supervising doctoral theses, as well as more recently incorporated researchers.
The unique dimension of this group is the feminist theoretical and methodological frame within which it functions. It is the only group of its kind in the Basque Autonomous Community. Since the 2008-2009 academic year we have also participated in organising and teaching a Master’s in Feminist Studies and Gender and a Doctoral Programme by the same title (UPV/EHU).
We specialise in four research areas: (1) Processes of inequality and social exclusion in the current political and economic situation. (2) Equality policies and feminist policies in different fields. (3) Emotions, corporeal practices and policies, and the reformulation of identities. (4) Review of distinct theoretical and methodological perspectives.
