Maider Barañano Uribarri
I hold a degree in Sociology (EHU, 2021) and completed a Master’s in Feminist and Gender Studies (EHU, 2022). From the early stages of my studies, my research has focused on care work and the relationships between community initiatives and public administrations. In line with my field of study, in 2023 I worked as a Contracted Researcher at EHU on a project evaluating Local Care Ecosystems in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Government.
Over the years, I have participated in various research projects related to my areas of study, including the CUMADE project, which focused on the organization of care work during the COVID-19 pandemic, where I studied community-based initiatives. I also took part in the ECOEMBEDEDDNESS project (PID2019-106757GA-I00), where we explored the transformative economy and, specifically in our group, various care organization initiatives, including the Local Care Ecosystems — a program I worked on again in the CAREMODEL project (PID2020-114887RB-C33). Starting in January 2025, I will be conducting my PhD in the Feminist and Gender Studies Doctoral Program (UPV/EHU), funded by the Basque Government’s Predoctoral Program, studying the intersections between the public and the community spheres in relation to the 2023 General Feminist Strike process.
